The Lodge at Torrey Pines
Fifteen miles north of San Diego, The Lodge at Torrey Pines offers modern construction of the historic California Craftsman style. The resort blends elements of both the Gamble House and the Blacker House, masterpieces by architects Charles and Henry Greene.
Randell L. Makinson, expert on the works of Greene & Greene, supervised the resort's design team to ensure the authenticity of their detailed architectural style. That team turned to Old California to maintain the handcrafted ethos of the Arts & Crafts movement, and we painstakingly reproduced the brothers' lighting masterpieces for this contemporary classic.
Arizona Biltmore
The Arizona Biltmore—home of the Tequila Sunrise—opened its doors in Phoenix in 1929, quickly becoming a playground for Hollywood elites. Designed by Albert Chase McArthur, the resort is easy recognized thanks to the influences of Frank Lloyd Wright on its block facade.
During an expansion, the resort commissioned Old California to develop a contemporary set of terrace light fixtures that would blend into the space and feel as if they had been in place since opening day.
The Gamble House
The Gamble House—famed landmark of Arts & Crafts architecture in Pasadena, California—is the most complete and well preserved home of those built by brother architects Charles & Henry Greene.
To prepare for an anniversary celebration, the Friends of the Gamble House commissioned Old California to reproduce one of the home's original lanterns for use outside their on-site bookstore. Two of the reproductions illuminate their side walkway and one hangs above the back door.
The home is open to the public for regular tours.
The Summit Lodge Restaurant
The Greenbrier Sporting Club commissioned a custom version of our angular Prospect Terrace series chandeliers to illuminate the expansive restaurant in their Summit Lodge. This West Virginia hideaway features majestic timber framing and Arts & Crafts details throughout.
